Sanctuary Somatic Breathwork: A Gentler Path to Nervous System Repair
Jul 02, 2025
Breathwork gets sold, most places, as an intense purge. A dramatic journey into transformation, all at once. But what happens when that intensity is too much. When the promised release leaves your body more wired than when you started.
That's exactly why my approach to breath looks different. Something softer, wiser, and built around what your body can actually hold, not what a trend demands of it.
Most viral breathwork, the Wim Hof style, the holotropic style, promises a cathartic purge, a rush, an intense release. Without a real safety net underneath it, that can leave you feeling rattled or depleted rather than repaired.
Your body actually heals in the parasympathetic state, rest and digest, not fight or flight. Intense breathwork can push you straight into activation, which shuts down the very pathway healing needs.
My own path went through Osho retreats, Reiki, years of yoga teaching, and none of it felt right until I understood I needed to ground the practice in safety first. Instead of pushing through, I learned to explore softness. Turning the volume down. Letting the breath lead itself instead of forcing it.
Softening, it turns out, is its own kind of strength. Safety builds connection, which is what your body is actually craving. There's no one size fits all here, healing isn't a race, it's an invitation. A breath here, a pause there, and trust builds moment by moment.
This is what BreathPlayTM actually feels like: invitation over instruction, leaning into what feels good. Release or rest, both welcome. Restoration through breathing alongside other women, never alone in the room.
If you're ready to breathe in a way that gives your body permission to actually open, not perform opening, come find the current offerings at achievher.com. Repair doesn't require force. It requires tenderness. Your breath belongs to you. Let's honor it together.
